Affiliates/Geographic Funds

Since our founding in 1973, the Midland Area Community Foundation (MACF) has grown in more ways than one. Since that time, our reach has expanded into Gladwin and Clare Counties, making for us a new "tri-county" service area. It is a blessing to be encouraging a philanthropic spirit in these two neighboring areas; we are happy to be involved with the great people in these two additional counties.

Clare County

In 1997, a group of volunteers in Clare County began growing a family of funds under the umbrella of the Mt. Pleasant Area Community Foundation. The idea was that they would incubate the fledgling Clare County Community Foundation (CCCF), and then eventually break away to form its own stand-alone community foundation.

In August 2002, the CCCF moved its affiliation from Mt. Pleasant to Midland. We are still incubating this young, energetic foundation, and provide staff, back office services, training, investments, etc. More information can be found through the link at the bottom of the page.

Gladwin County

Gladwin County has been included in our area of service since May 2000. Nonprofit organizations serving Gladwin County can apply for grants through all the regular channels available just as those serving Midland County can. Gladwin County residents are encouraged to establish funds at the MACF to accomplish their own charitable objectives.

The Gladwin County Youth Action Council (GladYAC) is funded from the same fund that supports the Midland County Youth Action Council (MCYAC). One addition, however, is a geographic field-of-interest fund, the Gladwin County Endowment Fund. An advisory committee of Gladwin County residents recommends grant distributions from the fund specifically to organizations which serve Gladwin County. Those wishing to apply for a grant from the Gladwin County Endowment Fund should look in the "Grants" section of this Web site. More information can be found through the link below.
