Clare Youth Demonstrate that the Spirit of Giving is Alive and Well in Clare County

The Clare County Youth Action Council cares about their clareYACcommunity. They make grants to the community throughout the year and are active volunteers in local events. This group of motivated youth finds active community involvement a rewarding way to spend their time.

But this holiday season, they wanted to do even more. And they were interested in doing something more personal for their community. After discussing it, the group of youth decided to adopt a local family for Christmas. They took their idea to some influential community members who agreed to contribute toward the cause. One anonymous donor unexpectedly contributed $500.00 to the group. With that amount of money, the Clare County Youth Action Council realized they could assist more than one family.

As a result of this generous donation, the group purchased gifts for two families. After a night of wrapping, they delivered the gifts to the families.

“The Clare Yacer’s really enjoyed adopting these families. The youth felt like they were giving back to their community and helping families that were less fortunate. They also enjoyed shopping and did a great job staying within budget,” commented Michelle Neff, Interim YAC Coordinator.
