The Foundation purchased the building at 76 Ashman Circle in December of 2006 with the intention of renovating the old Community Drug Store building into offices. The renovation itself did not change the look of the building. “The outside of the building won’t change much at all” said Brian Rodgers, Board Chair of the Foundation, when the project started. “We value the history behind the building and the whole Circle area and we want to honor that by keeping the building intact. Our goal was to improve the building for our purposes and that includes a sensitive renovation of the inside to office space.” The work has gone on steadily since January and includes new walls, wiring, flooring, windows and offices. The building is almost ready and staff will be moving in on June 13. The Midland Area Community Foundation will be closed on June 13 and reopen in the new permanent location of 76 Ashman Circle. A ribbon cutting and open house reception will be held on June 23. “We’re looking forward to the move”, said Jan McGuire, President and CEO of the Foundation. “Our recent move to 5820 Eastman Avenue went very smoothly but we are of course looking forward to moving into a permanent home for the Foundation.” | ||
