RIVERDAYS is a time-honored community festival, organized by the Midland Area Community Foundation since 1985. This year's festival, July 16-17, 2010, will feature many new additions. "We're planning exciting changes to give our festival a fresh feel and attract new audiences in addition to our current attendees," said Jan McGuire, President and CEO of the Midland Area Community Foundation.

Changes include moving the festival entirely to the Chippewassee ParkDSCN9559.JPG side of the Tridge and a fuller, more compact schedule. The All American Lumberjack Show will perform throughout the festival and offer kids' and adults' competitions. The weekend will include live music with The Verve Pipe, a nationally recognized band with local roots, performing a Friday night rock concert and a Saturday afternoon kids' concert.

"This year's festival is new and improved," says Lynn Heil, festival organizer, "In addition to the Lion's/Meijer Chicken Dinner, we're pleased to add several new fundraisers -  Midland Rotary Club's Beer Tasting, Chippewa Nature Center's Cookout, and a charity mud volleyball tournament."

Traditional festival offerings will still be offered such as the milk jug raft race, reenactor encampment, fife and drum corps performances, and Vintage Base Ball games. The festival will close with The Sinclairs Band concert and impressive fireworks show by Wolverine Fireworks and the Polish Pyros.

More details about the festival will be posted here as they become available (www.midlandfoundation.org) as well as on the Foundation's Facebook page. "We're looking forward to seeing you at the festival," said Dave Kell, festival organizer. "The festival is where you will want to be on July 16 and 17!"
