Clare County Community Foundation Awards Most Scholarships Ever

scholarships2010_093.jpgOn Sunday, May 16, twenty very deserving students were awarded scholarships from the Clare County Community Foundation. In front of family, friends, donors and community members, the students received scholarships to help pay for the cost of education after high school. The twenty scholarships given out this year is the largest number of scholarships ever given in a year. The event was generously sponsored by several local sponsors including; Central Michigan Community Federal Credit Union, Chemical Bank, Firstbank and Isabella Bank.

Hosted at the Doherty Hotel, the event gave students the opportunity to mingle with not only each other, but also with the donors or scholarship fund representatives themselves. "It's a great opportunity to not only help the students who want to go to school, but it also taught them that the person that they actually meet set this fund up and it's there just to help pay for someone's education." noted Dan Timmins, Board Chair. "It's been tremendous," said Jan McGuire, President and CEO "to have the largest number of students here that we've ever had and also to be able to award the largest amount of scholarships at one time is a real example of how the Clare County Community Foundation is growing."
