Adoption Option, Inc. Endowment Fund #629

The mission of the Adoption Option, Inc. it to improve the lives of the children and families they serve.  Adoption Option Inc. was initially founded to provide adoption services, help children in the foster care system and to share free information about adoption and foster care.  It has become a child welfare agency that provides a comprehensive array of services, including parent education, family preservation, and mentoring services.  The Adoption Option Inc. Endowment Fund supports the mission and operations of Adoption Option Inc.

Albert T. and Margaret H. Maasberg Scholarship Fund #296

To provide an annual scholarship award to a high school senior to assist him/her in pursuing higher education.  For a resident of Midland County who is a high school senior having demonstrated academic accomplishment and financial need, who will be attending a Michigan four-year college or University.  Demonstrated community service is also desirable, but not required.  The scholarship may be renewable; that is, a student may reapply for this award in subsequent years if it was originally awarded to him/her as a senior in high school.

To promote the general welfare of people with developmental disabilities, primarily mental retardation and cerebral palsy, in Midland County, and to foster the development of programs and services deemed necessary to promote the presence, participation and inclusion of these citizens in the community.  The purposes for which the fund may be used are: a) Empowerment of the community to provide appropriate living arrangements and full participation in community life. B) Enhancement of Arc of Midland programs.  C) Development of new programs as changing needs are identified.  D) Empowerment of individuals with developmental disabilities to assist them in being more fully included in community life.

To provide a scholarship award to Midland County residents who meet the following criteria: a) special education paraprofessionals or Para-educators pursuing a teaching degree in Special Education, or b) graduating high school seniors, college or graduate students pursuing a teaching degree in Special Education.  Preference will first be given to paraprofessionals or Para-educators or to other individuals who have demonstrated the compassion and commitment required to work with and help Special Education students.  Previous recipients may reapply.
