Grant Guidelines

The Midland Area Community Foundation has a quarterly grant cycle in which nonprofit organizations in Midland and Gladwin Counties may apply for grants. There are several additional grant opportunities available as well.

The Foundation is concerned about the community as a whole. We fund a wide variety of community programs, such as arts and culture, civic improvement, education, environment, health, human services, recreation and youth.

Midland Area Community Foundation Quarterly Grants

Note: if your organization pertains to art, culture or entertainment, please click here for additional information.

The Foundation is concerned about the community as a whole.  We fund a wide variety of community programs, such as arts and culture, civic improvement, education, environment, health, human services, recreation, and youth. The maximum grant amount is $40,000.

Deadlines: January 15, April 15, July 15, October 15

New! IMPACT Grants

As a result of the Community Needs Assessment conducted in Winter 2012/2013, MACF has committed to fund a series of IMPACT grants.  These grants will be made to organizations that are addressing community issues through programs and services that meet critical needs throughout Midland County.  $100,000 maximum grant amount.

 Deadlines: July 15, October 15 (2013 only)

MCYAC and GladYAC Grants

The Youth Action Council functions just like the Community Foundation, but it is made up of area middle and high school students.  The grant requirements and application is exactly the same.  Of particular interest to MCYAC and GladYAC are projects that benefit youth. $5,000 maximum grant amount.

Dow Corning Donor Advised Fund Grant Opportunity

From Dow Corning: The Dow Corning Foundation demonstrates Dow Corning Corporation's commitment to mutually benificial growth in society, especially in communities where we operate. $8,000 maximum local grant amount, $24,000 regional.

Deadlines: February 1, May 2, August 1, November 1

communityGives Grant

This is an opportunity for elementary, middle and high school age groups, sports teams and service clubs in the Great Lakes Bay Region to earn funding for priority projects through volunteerism.  This is accomplished through the giving of grants to K-12 aged groups that complete a pre-approved community volunteer activity and meet grant requirements.  Grants are $1,000 each. Applications for these grants are submitted to Nicole Wilson.

Deadline: Applications accepted throught the year.

Positive Philanthropic Power (P3) Grants

Sponsored by MCYAC, the P3 program offers grants up to $500 to any 501(c) 3 nonprofit with the majority of members under age 18 that commits to a service project in Midland.  This mini-grant is easy to apply for, fun to do and benefits our community in many ways!

Deadlines: January 15, April 15, October 15

Teacher Mini-Grants

An all-new MCYAC grant that encourages teachers to introduce unique classroom projects that enliven and enrich the curriculum. Applications for teacer mini-grants are submitted to Nicole Wilson, Youth Action Council Coordinator.

Deadlines: Due the 15th of each month (MCYAC only meets during the school year)

To Submit a Grant Proposal:

1. Review Criteria and general grant information

2. Contact Nancy Money no less than three weeks prior to the grant deadline at 989-839-9661 or via email

3. Prepare materials

4. Submit by deadline

REMEMBER: The Foundation cannot do its work unless we have good projects to fund. The partnership between the Foundation and our nonprofit community is critical to the quality of life for local residents. We want to find excellent projects to fund.
