MACF Grant Enables Improvements at Sanford United Methodist Church Food Pantry

Ground was broken at Sanford United Methodist Church on September 30, 2010 for an elevator.  The elevator adds ease of access to the facility for the Sanford Food Pantry.  The food pantry has been in continuous operation for over 20 years providing groceries for families having short term needs.

Presiding over the ceremony were the Rev. Dr. Janet Larner, pastor, the Rev. Dr. Jeff Maxwell, Saginaw Bay District-Detroit Annual Conference superintendent, Rob Bauer of RCL Construction Company, and various leadership and laity from the Sanford United Methodist Church.

Construction for the elevator will begin late in October and will be completed around the first of the year.  A grant for $5000 was provided by the Midland Area Community Foundation.  The Midland Area Community Foundation strengthens our community by providing leadership, fostering collaboration on local needs and issues, and encouraging a legacy of giving through grants, scholarships, and events.
