A Birthday Gift

TridgeThe Tridge was originally built as a community project managed by Midland Area Community Foundation in 1981. The original dedication event attracted 5,000 visitors and celebrated the community’s achievement. The community came together and raised the money to build the Tridge.  For 30 years, the Tridge has been a gem of our community, a gathering place, an icon, and truly a symbol of our ingenuity and willingness to work together.  The Tridge has framed countless concerts, Labor Day Tridge walks and RIVERDAYS fireworks.

To ensure another 30 years of great community and great times, the Midland Area Community Foundation has undertaken the Tridge renovation project.  More than 340 people, businesses and foundation have contributed $334,807.50 toward the project, resulting in new electrical & lighting, new structural components and new railing.   However $37,192.50 is still needed to complete the project.  Contributions will result in meeting the total $372,000 cost of renovation.

Once the Renovation project is complete, the Foundation will be hosting a birthday party for the Tridge on July 16, 2011.  The celebration of our unique Tridge’s history and future will be commemorated with cake, games, and a special reading of original stories highlighting the favorite Tridge memories by two local elementary students.

Contributions to the Tridge Renovation Project are tax deductible and can be directed to the Midland Area Community Foundation, 76 Ashman Circle, Midland, MI 48640 or online at www.midlandfoundation.org.
