What’s Your Favorite Tridge Memory?

tridgeFor 30 years, the Tridge has connected the parks and public paces at the confluence of the Tittabawassee and Chippewa Rivers.   One of the most unique footbridges in the United States, over a two year time-frame it was conceived and built by leaders. Formally dedicated in 1981, it has provided a backdrop to many of our community’s celebrations and provided a welcome connection to all of the amenities surrounding it.

In 2011, the Tridge will enjoy a 30th birthday party on July 16, 2011 after a year-long renovation project.  In conjunction with the Tridge renovation project and 30th birthday party, the Foundation is holding a “My Favorite Tridge Memory” story-writing contest for elementary-age children. The story contest has no word limit and no format limit.  The Foundation wants to hear stories from children in Midland County about their memories of the Tridge.  The entries should be sent to the Midland Area Community Foundation, 76 Ashman Circle, Midland, MI 48640. The deadline is June 24, 2011.

Two winners will be selected and they will read their story at the Tridge 30 year Celebration on July 16th during our RIVERDAYS event.  Questions about the contest can be directed to Jan McGuire at the Midland Area Community Foundation, 989-839-9661 or jmcguire@midlandfoundation.org.
