Donna “Teach” Comfort Endowed Scholarship Fund #00818

To provide an annual scholarship award to a Gladwin County resident to attend an accredited program – college or university, or long- or short-term vocational training program.  The recipient would have graduated from high school or obtained the GED prior to using this scholarship.  Recipients may reapply in one subsequent year provided they demonstrate at least a 3.0 GPA and absences of three days or less.

From the fundholder:

Donna Comfort was born in 1947 in Saginaw, MI. A graduate of Arthur Hill High School, she then attended Central Michigan University where she received a teaching degree in 1969. She went on to receive her master’s degree at Eastern Michigan University and taught mathematics and physical education for 30 years in the Flint Community before retiring in 1999. She loved the Gladwin Community and was given the nickname “Teach” after being initiated into the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxillary in 1983. To all recipients of this scholarship, “Teach” would say to you to take advantage of this scholarship to the best of your abilities and make each day count for something positive. Someday you may be able to pass on this random act of kindness to another deserving student like yourself.
