To provide an annual scholarship award to a high school senior to assist him/her in pursuing higher education. The purpose of the fund is to finance a scholarship for a resident of Midland County who is a high school senior having demonstrated academic accomplishment and financial need. The scholarship may be renewable; that is, a student may reapply for this award in subsequent years if it was originally awarded to him/her as a senior in high school.

From the fundholder:

It was my decision and the children’s decision that we would establish this scholarship because we felt that education of the children is important. We wanted to help somebody who needed a leg up, and help get them on their way. Rather than some other form of endowment to one of the other groups, we have preferred to do the scholarship idea. We have enjoyed it since we started it.
