Ken and Irma Wildes Memorial Nursing Scholarship Fund #00365
To provide financial support for a person earning a degree as a registered nurse. Graduating high school seniors and previous recipients of the award may apply.
From the fundholder:
Irma Wildes established a nursing scholarship following the death of her husband Ken. “When I was growing up and in high school, everybody wanted to be a nurse. My folks were invalids for six years and I did appreciate the work the nurses did for them. When Ken died, I thought immediately of endowing a scholarship, but I didn’t know how to go about it. Then I saw the Midland Foundation’s annual report in the newspaper and it was the answer to everything.” Irma also said that the scholarship gave her a vital interest in what was going on in colleges today.
