Stedman Graham Highlights Regional MLK Celebration at SVSU

StedmanGrahamNew York Times best-selling author,  Stedman Graham, will speak at the second annual Great Lakes Bay Regional Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration at Saginaw Valley State University Wednesday, Jan. 12 at 7 p.m. in the Malcolm Field Theatre for Performing Arts.

Chairman and CEO of S. Graham & Associates, a management and marketing consulting company that specializes in corporate and educational markets, Graham’s clients have included Fortune 500 companies and leading governmental and educational institutions.   He has written 10 books, including two New York Times bestsellers: “You Can Make it Happen: A Nine-Step Plan for Success” and “Teens Can Make it Happen: Nine Steps to Success.”

Graham has shown a lifelong commitment to youth and community. In 1985, he founded AAD Education, Health and Sports, a nonprofit organization of athletes and other civic leaders committed to developing leadership in underserved youth. To date, it has served over 15,000 students through education and scholarships. Graham also serves on the national board of Junior Achievement and the 7-Eleven Education Is Freedom Foundation.

Actively involved in education, Graham taught for five years at Northwestern University's Kellogg Graduate School of Management and is a former adjunct professor at the University of Illinois-Chicago where he taught leadership. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Hardin-Simmons University and a master’s degree from Ball State University.

In addition to Graham’s talk, the program will include a peace march and the presentation of regional scholarship awards by the Bay Area, Midland Area and Saginaw community foundations to high school seniors who have embodied Martin Luther King’s ideals.

The event is open to the public; admission is free of charge.  Tickets are required; they are available through the SVSU Box Office at (989) 964-4261 and through the chambers of commerce and community foundations in the Great Lakes Bay Region.   Several businesses and regional organizations are sponsoring the event.
