New Fund at the Midland Area Community Foundation Benefits Bullock Creek Students

logoThe Tom Gilstad Bullock Creek Endowed Scholarship Fund has been established at the Midland Area Community Foundation in memory of Tom Gilstad, a Bullock Creek teacher and administrator for over 30 years.

The purpose of the fund is to provide an annual scholarship award to a graduating senior of Bullock Creek High School.  Bullock Creek held a special place in Tom's heart and the recipient of this scholarship must display that same love of their high school and school spirit by having participated in extra curricular activities such as but not limited to, sports, band, class officer, drama or having represented their school doing volunteer work in the Bullock Creek Community.

This fund will benefit students from Bullock Creek High School for years to come as it grows over the years.  It is also a fitting tribute to a man who was an involved community member.  Mr. Gilstad’s dedication to the students at Bullock Creek as a teacher and administrator will live on through an annual scholarship award to a student who emulates his sense of community.

Tom Gilstad’s son, Chad, commented, “My Dad loved everything about Bullock Creek; the students, the staff, and the community. His was very proud to have worked in Bullock Creek his entire career.  What makes this scholarship so special to me is that it rewards a Bullock Creek graduating senior who shows the same pride, spirit, and love for Bullock Creek that he had.”

The fund, held at Midland Area Community Foundation is endowed, meaning it will forever be a part of the Midland community benefiting the Bullock Creek students.  For more information about this fund or any other at the Foundation, visit
