Midland Area Community Foundation announces new Energy Efficiency Grant

April 13th, 2021

Midland Area Community Foundation is announcing a new grant opportunity to support nonprofits in identifying avenues to address the long-term sustainability of their organization’s operating expenses.

“Through offering opportunities to improve energy efficiency, we can help build the capacity of local nonprofits,” said Sharon Mortensen, President & CEO of the Midland Area Community Foundation. “Nonprofits who invest in sustainability by lowering operating costs can support the community with greater impact.”

Midland Area Community Foundation has allocated $50,000 of its community investment funds to support the energy efficiency grant opportunity. Total grant awards will be considered based on each organization’s energy audit(s) and likely range between $5,000-10,000 per grant award.

“The Foundation is excited to help build the livelihood of Midland and care for those in our community by enabling nonprofits to invest in their infrastructure,” said Mortensen. “Grant opportunities like this assist us in moving toward our community’s goal of becoming an exceptional place where everyone thrives.”

Nonprofit organizations must state their intention to apply for this grant opportunity by Friday, May 14, 2021, ensuring organizations have enough time to complete their energy audit(s) and application for the July 15, 2021 application deadline. Any 501c3 nonprofit interested in learning more or expressing intentions in applying for this grant opportunity should contact Midland Area Community Foundation Director of Community Impact, Alysia Christy, at 989-839-9661 or achristy@midlandfoundation.org.
