Sharon F. Kalina Scholarship Endowment for Special Services Graduates #00397

The Sharon F. Kalina Scholarship for Special Services Graduates provides an annual scholarship award for graduating Midland Public Schools high school seniors or those who have graduated from the following programs: Learning Disabled (LD), Emotionally Impaired (EI), Educable Mentally Impaired (EMI), Physically or Otherwise Health Impaired (POHI), or Speech. Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) or Speech. The award would be used mainly for tuition, but may also support books, fees, and supplies.

The purpose of this fund is to finance the scholarship award.

From the fundholder:

The purpose of the Sharon F. Kalina Scholarship Endowment is to recognize the academic potential of Midland Public Schools Special Services graduates, by offering an annual scholarship award to support continuing education at the college, university, or nonprofit institution of their choice. Prior to 2002, no interdepartmental scholarships were available for this segment of the graduating population. This scholarship helps fill that void. This award supports academic goals that otherwise may not be attainable without assistance for tuition, books, fees, and supplies. In 2014, the scope of the scholarship was broadened to include a greater pool of applicants. They may now apply for it in the years following graduation, not just upon graduating.
