Colice Pearcy Malek Scholarship Fund #00665

To provide an annual scholarship award for a senior at any Midland County high school or a graduate of any Midland County high school who will be or is attending Central Michigan University and is majoring in education. Preference will be given to Bullock Creek High School graduating seniors or graduates.

From the fundholder:

Colice Ann Pearcy was born in Frankfort, Indiana, and graduated from Indiana State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education in 1967. She moved to Midland for a job with the Bullock Creek School System, teaching Kindergarten in the two-room Crane School. She married Jim Malek in 1968, and received a Master of Arts degree in Education from Central Michigan University in 1972. She retired from teaching in 1975 to devote full time to her daughters, Meredith and Melinda. She enjoyed music, playing piano and clarinet, and volunteered at Midland Hospital. Colice Pearcy Malek died in 1983 from breast cancer. (Pronounced – Kah-lis)
