Provide a scholarship award to Midland or Gladwin County residents who meet one of the following criteria: a) college students who are pursuing degrees in Special Education, or b) college students who are pursuing degrees in Occupational, Physical or Speech Therapy but only if their main interest area is working with special education students. Preference will be for the former.

From Neil, Annmarie, and Rachel Hawkins – Deborah Hawkins is our joy bug and hub of our family … and she happens to also have severe cognitive special needs and autism. To honor her, and the special education teachers and therapists who fearlessly have worked with Deborah, we established this endowed scholarship to help students, similarly interested, to pursue the degrees which will qualify them to serve other children and adults with special needs! Deborah has had a profound effect on thousands of people. The future teachers and therapists this scholarship supports will enable and replicate that positive impact many times over! What a privilege!
