To provide an annual scholarship award to a graduating senior of Midland High School who exemplifies the “Chemic Spirit” defined as being active in school activities and community service. The scholarship will be awarded based on financial need. Students are not eligible to reapply.
From the fundholder:
Established by the Midland High School Class of 1984, in honor of our 40th class reunion. When we graduated from MHS 40 years ago, we went on our separate ways, going to colleges, starting careers, and raising families. Whatever we did, we did with Chemic Pride, something that bonds us as a class. It is our hope that this tradition of Chemic Spirit and Pride will continue with each class at MHS. This scholarship is intended for a graduating senior from Midland High School who best exemplifies “Chemic Spirit”. The recipient does not have to belong to the largest number of organizations, have the highest GPA, or win the MHS popularity contest. Instead, to us, having Chemic Spirit means that you represent the best of everyone in your class – not just one clique, sports team, club, or organization. You transcend individual groups and are universally respected by everyone. We hope this scholarship will in a small way assist that individual to carry on the Chemic Spirit to the next phase of his or her life.
