To provide an annual one-time scholarship to encourage a person less than 25 years old to attend a public college as a commuting student. Financial need will be considered.

From the fundholder:

While enrolled at Delta College in late 1971, Steve chose to interrupt his education to enlist in the Air Force. Shortly before he was to be inducted, in early 1972, Stephen Gorman’s life ended in a fatal car accident while on a skiing outing.

The Stephen E. Gorman Memorial Scholarship is a tribute to the characteristics which made Steve a special person. Steve’s concern for youth and his love for life live on in this permanent scholarship award his family established in his memory.
