To provide annual scholarship award(s) to student(s) graduating from Midland County high schools in the year of the award, pursuing higher education in a science-related field such as chemistry, physics, biology, etc.
From the fundholder:
William H. Schuette was a PhD in chemical engineering from Case Institute of Technology (now Case Western Reserve). William, a Dow Chemical employee, was considered to not only be an able organizer and diplomat, but also a brilliant manager. He was a well-known leader at the Midland Division and was on track to be the next CEO of Dow Chemical, until his sudden passing at 47 years old from a heart attack.
The Schuette family created the William H. Schuette Memorial Scholarship to provide educational opportunities to a student with a zest for learning. “Dad had a commitment to science and education,” said Bill Schuette, son of the late William H. Schuette. In memory of William H. Schuette, the Schuette family strives to provide a student the opportunity to pursue their talents and education at the collegiate level.
