Service Club Alliance

The Service Club Alliance is a collaborative partnership between Midland area service clubs to coordinate efforts and simplify grantmaking for community organizations. The Service Club Alliance simplifies the grant process by using a common application for applicants who provide essential support to Midland County residents. The Midland Area Community Foundation is not responsible for the grantmaking made by the organizations below. We are merely the convenor of this alliance.

Kiwassee Kiwanis Club

A global organization of volunteers, we are dedicated to improving the world, one child and one community at a time. At the local level, our vision is to be a positive influence in our community so that one day, all children, teens, and their families will wake up knowing their community believes in them, nurtures them, and provides the support they need to thrive.

Each committee is thoughtful, intentional, and purposeful in finding funding opportunities that recognize the dignity and potential of all children, teens, and their families and our desire to assist them to have a better quality of life. Funding requests may come in the form of a capital project or operational needs. Approval of funds will be determined at the committee level.

Kiwassee Kiwanis Foundation

The Foundation supports groups and projects that focus on children and youth. Funding is for capital projects only. Organizations must be tax-exempt to apply. Approval of funds will be determined by the Board of Directors.

Kiwanis Club of Midland & Midland Kiwanis Foundation

Funding priorities (provided by Kiwanis Club of Midland): The focus of Kiwanis International and our local club is the well-being of children. We have combined financial resources with personal skills to assist teachers in preschool and elementary classrooms, to build local playgrounds, to fund scholarships, books and equipment, classroom improvement purchases, and holiday parties at many schools and preschools in Midland County. Projects are identified during annual interviews and visits with local schools and community centers and from applications made through the club’s website. Funds are controlled by the club’s committees and by the Midland Kiwanis Foundation Board, which oversees the management of the club’s investment income and provides most of the finances for the club’s projects. Note that only 501(c)(3) organizations are eligible for grants from the Midland Kiwanis Foundation.

Midland Lions Club

Midland Lions Club is one of the 49,000 chartered clubs of Lions International. With clubs in over 200 countries, Lions International is one of the most extensive service organizations worldwide, with over 1.4 million members. Individual clubs within Lions International retain considerable autonomy and determine their programs.

The Midland Lions Club supports the global causes of Lions International: Vision, Hunger, Diabetes, Childhood Cancer, Environment, Disaster Relief, Humanitarian, Youth, in addition to hearing conservation. Vision and sight conservation are critical priorities for Lions International and Midland Lions. About 40% of our charity’s budget addresses vision needs, from Project Kids Sight to assisting with eye exams, eyeglasses, and supplies for the blind (e.g., white canes). We also help address hearing needs (e.g., assistance with hearing aids).

In addition to direct programs administered by the club, much of the Midland Lion’s service is via monetary support to other organizations (e.g., Leader Dogs for the Blind, Camp Fishtales, Food Bank, Michigan All State Band, Bear Lake Camp, etc.). We also consider organizational and individual requests for assistance on a case-by-case basis.

Rotary Club of Midland Morning

Funding priorities include environmental causes, early childhood education, and social services in Midland and the surrounding townships. Organizations must be tax-exempt to apply.

Rotary Club of Midland Morning’s grants are typically $500 - $1,000 but are occasionally larger.

Midland Noon Rotary Club

The Midland Rotary Club Community Needs Committee serves to meet the financial needs for youth-oriented projects that are smaller in nature and otherwise not served by other grantors. The maximum grant is $3000, and grants are made on a just-in-time, as-needed basis.

Midland Rotary Foundation

Midland Rotary Foundation supports projects benefitting disadvantaged youth in Midland County. Our grants typically range up to $5,000. We do not fund ongoing operations. The foundation limits applications to every three years. Successful applicants must provide a project summary, including photos, within 12 months of completion. There are two annual grant cycles.

Noon Exchange Club

Through the Programs of Service – Americanism, Community Service, and Youth Programs – members support activities that benefit youth, promote pride in our country, and honor military and public service providers, to name a few. Exchange's National Project is the prevention of child abuse.

Zonta Club

Zonta International and our members work at the international, national, and local levels to realize our vision of a world in which women's rights are recognized as human rights and every woman can achieve her full potential, where women have access to all resources and are represented in decision making positions on an equal basis with men, and where no woman lives in fear of violence. We awarded scholarships for women returning to school/non-traditional students.
