The Midland Area Construction Talent Attraction Program Application Deadline is Friday, August 15

The Midland Area Community Foundation reminds eligible applicants that the deadline to apply for the Construction Talent Attraction Program is Friday, August 15, 2025. Awards range from $5,000 to $20,000 and are designed to attract and retain people who have completed postsecondary education and plan to work for construction businesses with a physical address in Midland County.

“The Construction Talent Attraction Program strengthens our local workforce by helping people with applicable training and credentials build their lives and careers in Midland County,” said Sharon Mortensen, President and CEO of the Midland Area Community Foundation. “By focusing on talent attraction and retention in the construction industry, we are investing in projects and people who keep our community moving forward.”

Local employers with team members who have benefited from this program include Three Rivers Construction, Fisher Contracting, Orvosh Builders, and Gerace Construction.

The Construction Talent Attraction program provides loan repayment support, sometimes called a post-graduation or reverse scholarship program. The program aims to attract those with post-secondary training in construction to work for employers in Midland County.

Applicants must be employed or self-employed in a construction-related business with a physical office in Midland County and reside in Midland, Clare, or Gladwin Counties. Applicants may hold a certificate in a building-related trade or skill from a community college or trade school, or an associate’s or bachelor’s degree from a community college, college, or university.
