Flood Recovery Sessions Via Zoom to Resume 1/14/2020

Midland Area Community Foundation (MACF), in conjunction with the Long-Term Recovery Group, will continue hosting Zoom sessions to provide consistent updates to community members about the process of long-term flood recovery. The sessions are called, “Flood Recovery Sessions.” Topics to be covered on the monthly sessions include a Long-Term Recovery Group financial overview, Sanford’s recovery work, and the Four Lakes Task Force.

“The Flood Recovery Sessions have been successful at connecting the Midland community directly with those involved with flood recovery work,” said Sharon Mortensen, President and CEO of the Midland Area Community Foundation and member of the Long-Term Recovery Group Steering Committee. “We have been able to provide a transparent forum where community members can ask questions and learn from individuals who have specific areas of expertise in the flood recovery process.”

Flood Recovery Update and Connections are open to everyone. Attendees are asked to register for sessions at Beginning January 14th at 10:30am, sessions will be held monthly on the second Thursday of the month. January’s presenters will focus on the financial overview of the Long-Term Recovery Group, February’s session will focus on Sanford’s recovery work, and March’s session will feature the Four Lakes Task Force. More sessions will be announced in the coming months.

“The first session will be an opportunity for us to bring general awareness of long-term flood recovery work in Midland County,” said Mortensen. “Many have contributed to one of the flood recovery funds. This session will allow us to keep donors informed of their contribution’s impact and provide a full financial overview of the Long-Term Recovery Group’s work.”
