Midland Area Community Foundation and Long-Term Recovery Group to host Flood Recovery Session focused on Sanford

Midland Area Community Foundation (MACF), in conjunction with the Long-Term Recovery Group, will be focusing on the recovery work taking place in Sanford on the February 11th Flood Recovery Session via Zoom.

“The Flood Recovery Sessions have been successful at connecting the Midland community directly with those involved with flood recovery work,” said Sharon Mortensen, President and CEO of the Midland Area Community Foundation and member of the Long-Term Recovery Group Steering Committee. “Sanford has been impacted in ways that go much further than the surface of the flood. The upcoming Flood Recovery Session will be an open forum where leaders in Sanford’s recovery process can speak directly with donors and those impacted by the unfortunate flooding event.”

Flood Recovery Update and Connections are open to everyone. Attendees are asked to register for sessions at Februrary 11th’s Flood Recovery Session will take place at 10:30am. Sessions are held monthly on the second Thursday of the month. For those unable to attend, the session will be recorded for on-demand viewing on MACF’s YouTube channel. Presenters for February’s session are Dolores Porte, Teresa Quintana, and Katie Vokal. Dolores serves as Sanford’s Village President and will focus on the Village of Sanford’s perspective on the recovery process. Teresa will dive into the work of Sanford Strong and the difference they are making in the community. Katie is currently the Disaster Case Manager serving the Sanford area. She will explain the work of case management in conjunction with the Long-Term Recovery Group.

“Sanford Strong has worked diligently to assist with recovery efforts in Sanford,” said Quintana. “With COVID-19 and harsh winter conditions, there has been a sense of urgency in our goal to make sure all members of the Sanford community feel supported.”
