Santa set to arrive at the Midland Area Santa House in Downtown Midland on November 28th, sensory-friendly nights to return.

November 20th, 2023

The annual Midland Area Santa House and Courthouse Lighting Ceremony will occur on Tuesday, November 28th, in Downtown Midland. Before the lighting ceremony, Santa and Mrs. Claus will travel from the Tridge to Main Street at 6:30 PM, where they will join the crowd at the Courthouse to lead a countdown. From there, they will open the Santa House and welcome families until 9:00 PM. This free family event is organized by the Midland Area Community Foundation, which supports the Midland Area Santa House operations and Northern Star Train.

The Midland Area Santa House, located at the corner of M-20 and Main Street, is an iconic landmark in Midland. The House was built in 1987 with assistance from the Midland Area Community Foundation and generous donors. Annual operations are made possible by the support of the Community Foundation’s staff, the donation of time from volunteers, and by endowed funds held at the Midland Area Community Foundation.

“The Midland Area Community Foundation is proud to work alongside community volunteers who operate the Santa House,” said Raquel Brown, Director of Development for the Midland Area Community Foundation. “We hope you’ll join us on Main Street as Santa makes his arrival!”

The Midland Area Santa House will be open daily from November 28th to December 23rd. The three days following Santa’s arrival are sensory-friendly nights. Please contact the Midland Area Community Foundation at 989-839-9661 to coordinate your sensory-friendly visit and express your visit’s requirements.

“We believe the Midland Area Santa House should be a destination for all community members,” said Brown. “Our sensory-friendly nights were a hit in 2022, and we’re happy to have them return in 2023!”

Volunteers are currently being asked to help with visits with Santa and rides on the Northern Star Train by stepping into the role of “elf.” Volunteers who would like to help assist with Santa excursions will be surrounded by all the wonders of the Santa House for three-hour timeslots. Volunteers who’d like to help with the Northern Star Train assist with organizing rides through beautifully decorated Downtown Midland.
