Scholarship applications open to Midland County students beginning December 1st

November 17th, 2017

Midland Area Community Foundation (MACF) will accept scholarship applications online beginning December 1st. Over $650,000 is available through a variety of scholarships established by local donors and held at MACF.

The applications are open to high school seniors, current college students as well as adults resuming postsecondary study or retraining to enter the job market. Scholarships are available to any student residing in Midland County, while a limited number are also available for Gladwin County residents.

“Promoting education and managing scholarship funds is one of the many functions of a community foundation,” said Sharon Mortensen, MACF President & CEO. “Thanks to hundreds of generous donors, nearly 300 scholarships will be awarded to local students in 2018.”

MACF recently revamped their online application to make it even easier for students to apply. Students simply fill out one application, and they will be automatically matched to scholarships they qualify for.

The annual awards come from over 200 individual funds that organizations and individuals have established at the community foundation for the sole purpose of providing scholarships to area students. Last year, 275 scholarships totaling $649,400 were awarded to local students at an awards ceremony held at Northwood University.

All applicants must complete a short essay and submit other information online at www.midlandfoundation.org. The final due date is March 1, 2018. For details and assistance completing the application, visit the website or contact MACF at 989.839.9661.
