The Midland Area Community Foundation will accept scholarship applications online until January 31, 2024. Over $800,000 is available through various scholarships established by local donors and held at the Community Foundation.

The applications are open to high school seniors, current college students, and adults resuming postsecondary study or retraining to enter the job market. Scholarships are available to any student residing in Midland County, while a limited number are also available for Gladwin County residents.

“Promoting education and developing talent through scholarship funds is one of the many functions of a community foundation,” said Sharon Mortensen, President and CEO of the Midland Area Community Foundation. “Thanks to hundreds of generous donors, over 250 scholarships will be awarded to local students in 2024.”

The Foundation recently revamped its online application to make it easier for students to apply. Students only have to fill out one application to be automatically matched to scholarships for which they qualify

The annual awards come from over 200 individual funds that organizations and individuals have established at the Community Foundation for the sole purpose of providing scholarships to area students. Since 1978, over $7.5 million in scholarships have been awarded from funds held at the Community Foundation.

All applicants must visit www.midlandfoundation.org to apply. For details and assistance completing the application, visit the website or contact the Community Foundation at 989-839-9661.
