To provide an annual scholarship award to a graduate of H. H. Dow High School who is pursuing a teaching degree with a preference to those majoring in math education. The applicant must be active in their community, school or church; working with children or teens in a volunteer capacity is preferred but not required.

From the fundholder:

As a teacher for thirty years, the scholarship is my gift upon my retirement to continue my love for and investment in education. Additionally, my mother died the year before I retired. Education was very important to her also. The funding for this scholarship was made possible through my inheritance to honor her and her desire for higher education for young people.
