From the fundholder:

Eugene Skeebo was born into a family of Ukrainian immigrants in Cleveland, Ohio and grew up understanding the value of education and hard work. He was valedictorian of his high school and served in the United States Army until 1947. He worked many odd jobs to put himself through Miami University, Ohio and Case Western School of Law, and after obtaining his juris doctorate and working for some time with the National City Bank of Cleveland he and his family moved to Midland, MI. He joined the Chemical Bank & Trust Company and retired as senior vice president and senior trust officer. His strong community involvement and love for his family inspired his friends to establish this scholarship in his memory.
