To provide annual scholarship awards to a student graduating from Midland County high schools in the year of the award, pursuing higher education in a humanities-related field such as English, foreign language, art, music, journalism, etc.

This scholarship is a living memorial, perpetuating a memory by helping today’s youth. It was established as the outgrowth of a spontaeous movement throughout Dow’s Midland plant to honor Dr. and Mrs. Dow, son and daughter-in-law of the Dow founder, following their death in a plane crash.
